EC Mission

Elysian Camerata is dedicated to realizing the very essence of the music we perform and bringing it to our audiences with a commitment to artistic excellence. Our primary goal is to be true to the composer's intent and to realize it in such a way that it communicates as directly as possible with our audiences.

Elysian Camerata
About Us

With great passion and unwavering commitment, Elysian Camerata now forges ahead well into their second decade of exceptional music making. The cumulative impact of their years together as one of Philadelphia's outstanding chamber ensembles is evident from the moment the music begins. Artistic maturity and interpretive insight are the hallmarks of their musical offerings. Additionally, their concerts have an element of unpredictability that comes from their regrouping into various size and types of ensembles from within their core instrumentation, and with the use of guest artists. As the Elysians continue to expand their diverse repertoire they remain diligent in trying to convey the composers' original intent while still infusing their own personal understanding and inspiration into the genius within the music. Their dedication to knowing and sharing the history of the music they perform brings a uniquely fulfilling concert experience to their ever-growing audiences.

The members of Elysian Camerata, all independently established musicians in Philadelphia and its environs, are involved in performance and teaching with numerous area ensembles and institutions. Their individual careers have involved them with most of the area's major ensembles and music schools. Elysian Camerata's members have performed with the Pennsylvania Ballet Company, the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra, the Philly Pops, Bay-Atlantic Symphony, Lancaster Symphony Lehigh Valley Chamber Orchestra, Opera New Jersey, Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Classical Symphony, Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra, the Philadelphia Opera Company, Reading Symphony, Princeton Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra.

The Elysians all share a strong commitment to passing on their musical legacies through teaching. Some of the members have had long-standing affiliations with the Settlement Music School network while others teach at area schools and colleges, including Germantown Friends School, Haverford College, Bryn Mawr College and the Community College of Philadelphia. Additionally, they all maintain private teaching studios.

Chamber music is the one constant that binds together the members of this ensemble. Throughout their respective careers all of the Elysian musicians have continued to hone and develop their formidable skills in the art of chamber music performance. Other chamber ensembles that the Elysians are or have been involved with include the Serafin Quartet, the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble, the Arioso String Quartet, the Castalia String Trio, the Fairmount String Quartet, the Tenor Clef Dwellers and the Soglio Chamber Players. Elysian Camerata continues to explore new musical paths and bring their dynamic playing to new audiences both near and far.

A message from the musicians:
In difficult times such as these, the arts are more essential than ever to the wellbeing of our society. The arts unite us in our common humanity, give us a means of self-expression and remind us that great beauty still exists, regardless of life’s challenges. We want to welcome everyone to our concerts as a means of sanctuary from the trials of daily life. You are invited to come and lose yourself for a brief time in the divine power of chamber music – a truly Elysian experience.
